I write about science, culture, and environmental issues. I work on the web team at The New Yorker and was formerly the editor-in-chief of Guernica: a magazine of global art + politics. I've taught writing at Columbia University and the City University of New York, and hold a BA in environmental science and public policy from Harvard and an MFA in nonfiction writing from Columbia. I hail from Kansas City and live in Brooklyn.
